Job Title: Forest School & Outdoor Education Teacher
Location: Central Education Team Based near Whitchurch, North Shropshire, SY13 with outreach work near Newport, Shropshire, TF10.
Salary: Actual: Negotiable to £7,000 [with experience/ qualification] FTE: £30,000 - £35,000.
Hours: 1 day per week [0.2 FTE]. 42 weeks per year (38 term time + 4 days].
Contract: Permanent.
Commence: 1st September 2024.

What we are looking for:
Experience working with young people with Additional Educational Needs.
Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes.
Training or expertise on a relevant Forest School Programme.
Experience of planning and implementing personalised plans for students with special educational needs and working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice.
Patient and engaging teacher who can provide targeted lessons to a student's needs.
Highly effective teamwork skills.
Key responsibilities:
To ensure that the special educational needs of pupils are met by providing a consistent and efficient service congruent with the organisation’s aim, objectives and philosophy.
To provide high quality educational services that meet the needs of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) / Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
To deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils with SEN, working to a range of qualification levels to include; Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, John Muir, ASDAN any other qualifications considered relevant to meet the needs of the pupil.
Utilising extensive knowledge and experience bases in working with young people with SEN / SEMH to adjust teaching styles to meet individual learner needs.
To lead group and individuals on outdoor activities.
The Requirements:
GCSE A* - C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics and other relevant subjects (E.g. A – C).
Degree level subject or equivalent.
DET (DTLLS) & QTLS OR Degree, PGCE Secondary English & QTS OR Teaching Degree & QTS.
Forest School Programme Leadership Certificate (level 2 essential, level 3 desirable).
BELA or Mountain Leader (summer) qualification.
Outdoor Education Qualifications e.g. MIAS (Mountain Bike), CWI (Indoor Climbing).
Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Assessor/ Supervisor Qualification.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Manager/ accreditation.
Recent and relevant experience as an effective Teacher delivering Forest Schools, DoE, outdoor education.
Experience of working with secondary students with SEN, SEMH and other complex needs desirable.
Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
