Location: Based near Whitchurch, North Shropshire, SY13

Salary: £28,600 - £35,000

Hours: Full time (5 days per week)

Contract: Permanent; Full Time (52 weeks)

We are looking for an experienced Science Teacher to join our fantastic team at Physis.

We are looking for a Science Teacher to ensure that the special educational needs of
our pupils are met. You will take a creative approach to teaching pupils & provide a consistent and efficient service in line with the organisations aim, therefore providing a high quality of education.

This is a great opportunity for a Science Teacher who wants to spend time developing creative learning methods, to meet the needs of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) / Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).

What we are looking for:

  • Experience working with young people with Additional Educational Needs

  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes

  • Training or expertise on a relevant curriculum (e.g. Science)

  • Experience of planning and implementing personalised plans for students with special educational needs and working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice.

  • Patient and engaging teacher who can provide targeted lessons to a student's needs

  • Highly effective teamwork skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans and deliver according to the educational needs of the pupils, including the setting and marking of work in and out of the school setting.

  • To ensure that the pupils you teach are supervised as specified in their Care Plans and Placement Plans.

  • Report on attendance, attainment and engagement for all teaching sessions

  • At all times effectively, accurately and professionally communicate and consult with parents, carers and other professionals.

  • Set and maintain high standards, expectations and aspirations for both staff and students, ensuring they are treated with dignity, respect and that they receive appropriate guidance, support and recognition.

  • Complete training as required and commit to safeguarding principles.

The Requirements

  • A Level (A* - C) or nationally recognized Level 3 qualification in Science

  • DET (DTLLS) & QTLS OR Degree, PGCE Secondary Science & QTS OR Teaching Degree & QTS.

  • Recent and relevant experience as an effective Teacher. NqT's welcome to apply.

  • Experience of working with students with SEN, SEMH and other complex needs desirable.

  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes

  • Eligible to work in the UK
